i have decided to resurface. the last year has been spent with my homeless friends and those who help them. we have made trips to LA, san francisco, portland and cornville arizona to do art installations, play music, perform poetry, hand out clothing, books, food and drinks. we’re also working locally with a phoenix outreach for the poor and homeless callled prodigal’s home. isolation from cyberworld has it’s benefits but my obligation to outcasts has pushed me back into the public eye. their story must be told. my heart is torn for those who live without hope. i’m going to be more open with what we’re doing. we have recently opened a facebook account under the name hope thru art and have published three new books in the last 18 months. DISPOSABLE PEOPLE, GHOST and TATTOO were written for street people but they do have some crossover appeal. i have also been busy making new art pieces. they are a blend of dia del muerta, found art and poetry. some of the pieces were sold but the majority have been given away or used for installations in homeless areas. please check out the documentary that my friend matt beem made about our recent excursion to san francisco and portland in a bluebird school bus.
If anyone is interested, I will be showing some of my new art pieces at Crossroads Methodist Church this Friday, April 2, 2010 at 6pm. There is also a church service that starts at 7pm.
